The most wonderful time of the year according to Edward Pola and George Wyle (the guys who wrote the ever so famous Christmas song-- but personally, I think fall is the most wonderful time of the year.)
Even so, I do love this holiday. Spending time with family, watching nostalgic movies, eating yummy food, and most of all remembering the whole point of the day--the birth of our Savior, Jesus Christ. But what I don't like so much? The spending. Jesse and I have always been very reasonable with our gifts to each other but now we have a daughter (one that I might add will actually kind of understand what's going on this time around) it's impossible to not spend just a little bit more. Except this year isn't really a little bit more because Penelope is kind of in need of a lot more things (we are lacking in the toy department.) So as usual, we created a budget. But even so, it's more than I'm really looking forward to spending.
Thankfully however, I anticipated this moment. Which is why I already started making a little extra money so we wouldn't have to use our paycheck. The good news for you is that it's not too late!
There is this awesome website called mysurvey.com. Basically, you take surveys, and then depending on the time it takes, they give you points which you can turn in for gift cards or items. I know, I know, cash would be much better but if you like to shop online this is completely for you. I use all my points for amazon gift cards and since
And as an extra bonus for us, when Jesse was working as a sales person for his company, he won a few contests which resulted in $75 in amazon gift cards. We'll end up with more money then we originally intended. Hurrah!
There are so many incredible items you can get through this site. If you're big into going out to eat, they have lots of choices for restaurant gift cards. You can also buy movies, get movie theater passes, music downloads, and so much more.
But the best part about mysurvey.com is that it's easy. I'm a fairly busy person with entertaining, feeding, teaching, and loving a one year, while also cleaning and cooking, doing homework, and going to school. So I don't have a lot of extra time to spare. But what's great is that I can do it while I'm watching a movie, while I'm not so much paying attention in one of my classes (ahem, bankruptcy law), or even crank out a whole bunch while Penelope takes her nap. It is perfect for those of us who are constantly multitasking. It also has a mobile app so if you have a long bus commute, doctor appointments, or what-not, you can use it whenever you have some extra time in-between.
